Top Nursing Schools by State

The demand for well-trained registered nurses is increasing. Despite the rapid growth, it is important that you choose a school with high instructional quality, up to date facilities, and an excellent reputation. The World Report and US News assess universities and colleges of the United States thoroughly every four years. The following are rated as top nursing schools by state in terms of the quality of nursing education provided by the institution.

University of Washington

The University of Washington is ranked first by World report and US News as they provide quality education to both graduate and undergraduate degree programs in nursing. They provide bachelor's degree and accelerated bachelor's program for those who have an associate's degree in nursing.

University of California

The University of California in San Francisco is ranked second. They specialize in graduate education and offer programs such as a master of science, doctor of philosophy, and a master's degree for students with associate's degree. Students are also given the chance to specialize in acute care, gerontology, midwifery, environmental health, health policy international nursing, cardiovascular nursing and perinatal nursing.

University of Pennsylvania

Ranked third, the University of Pennsylvania offers undergraduate options such as transfer, accelerated and first degree entry programs. They also offer graduate specialties such as oncology, psychiatric care, health care administration, midwifery, women's health, family health and anaesthesia.

John Hopkins University

Ranked fourth, John Hopkins University provides a bachelor's degree, master's degree, Doctor of nursing practice and doctor of philosophy. They also offer distance learning options online.

University of Michigan

The University of Michigan ranked number five in the top nursing schools by state. They offer three undergraduate programs and at least 20 master's program in midwifery, business administration, and clinical nursing. They also offer PhD and post doctoral programs.
