Nursing Scholarships

Nursing has emerged as one of the most sought after careers in the modern times; however, that was not the case until a few years ago. The situation changed drastically in the recent past when more people starting looking at it as the perfect career option. Until a few years ago, there was an acute shortage of qualified nurses in the country. This; however, lead to rise in demand and better paying career options as well. Youth of the modern times consider it as one of the best and secure career option. However, the prevailing economic condition plays its part when it comes to the fee of attending the colleges. It is on the higher side and most parents might not be in the condition to take care of that. To cope up with the issue, institutions work hand in hand along with the government agencies and provide you with an option to consider – the nursing scholarships.

The Purpose

The main motto of the government agencies and educational institutes behind the scholarships is to encourage students to take up the courses and fight out two dragons haunting the country for long – unemployment and rising demand of qualified nurses.

The Criterion

Certain important factors are kept in mind while selecting the candidates for the scholarship. One such criterion is the GPA. The better the GPA, more are your chances of getting a scholarship. In addition, the financial conditions of the parent are also considered while awarding the scholarship. Less privileged ones have better chance of getting a scholarship. A student who father has passed away and the monthly family income is less than $1000 is more likely to be selected.

The Other Option

A number of institutes and hospitals offer the scholarships in exchange of certain years of working at their facility. This is considered as a way to pay off the debt. You get your scholarship, job and an opportunity to gain experience and rise the ladder of success as well.

American Nursing Association

The American Nursing Association also offers scholarship to the students interested in pursuing a career in nursing. The criterion of selection is intellect.

Other than there, there are a number of other scholarships available online. The greatest thing related to scholarships is that unlike loans, you do not need to worry about repaying them.
