Mediation Training

When it comes to Meditation training, selecting the right program for you is probably the most important and difficult aspect. Here are a few important factors that you should consider.

Subject Area
The subject area is basically composed of two parts – the basic and the specialty. The basic program is necessary for all and forms the platform. For specialty, you would need to analyze the options well in advance and select as per your needs and requirements. The practice areas can be family, workplace and disability among others. In case you are not sure, start with the basic one and decide over the course period.

Content
The content of the program is also important and must include:

• Information gathering
• Mediation process
• Role of the mediator
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Problem solving
• Brainstorming
• Mediator ethics
• Professional concerns
• Practice tips

The Duration
Duration of the course must also be considered. Those looking to make a profession in the field, must opt for 40 hours of basic training along with at least 12 hours of specialty one.

Online or In-Person
Based on your requirements as well as other factors including time constraints, you can choose either the online training or the in person training. The skills imparted are the same in both cases and your compatibility plays a main part in making a decision. If the location or center where you can receive training is far off and you would need to travel a lot, it is always better to opt for online option.

Qualification of the Trainer
You must also ensure to verify the qualification of the trainer to ensure that you are learning from the best. The hourly experience matters a lot and must be carefully considered. The point to understand here is that the trainer might have an experience of only 100 hours even if he is a mediator for last 20 years. However, a better option would be a mediator with 1000 hours of experience even if he is mediating for last two years.

Teaching Skills of the Mediator
How easily and effectively a mediator can impart the skills must also be considered.

Cost
Cost is always a major factor and makes a major impact in reaching to any conclusion. Consider what the training would cost you. Look for options before making a decision to get the best deal.

Reviews
Reviews can be a great way to know what to expect at a training center. You can find a number of those on the internet. You can also discuss the details with those who have already completed the course at the center. Remember, one or two bad reviews does not necessary mean that the service is not good.
