The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC) offers a national database of accredited nursing schools. These can be narrowed down according to the program type and state. Available types of program offered by nursing schools include bachelor's degree, Associate degree, Master's degree, doctoral degree, etc.) NLNAC is an organization responsible for overseeing the accreditation of nursing schools. They receive national recognition as an accreditation authority in nursing from a few certified organizations. They also publish a directory of accredited nursing programs every year. In addition, they publish criteria and standards manual for all accredited schools of nursing.

US News and World report published a list of best graduate nursing schools in the country and ranked them according to a lot of factors such as statistical calculations of research, students and faculty, and expert opinion on the quality of nursing education. The statistical calculations were added to find the overall scores of the schools and are ranked in descending order. The top ten accredited nursing schools are University of Washington, University of California - San Francisco, University of Pennsylvania, John Hopkins, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Oregon Health and Science, University of Illinois - Chicago, University of Maryland - Baltimore, University of Pittsburgh, and Yale.

The highest score received by the University of Washington was 4.9 out of 5 and the lowest was 2.5. Many nursing schools refuse to submit information, thus, they are not ranked accordingly.
